IMPHAL: A 48-year-old Anganwadi worker, Sundari Devi, who received the first dose of Covishield vaccine on February 12, died at a government health centre at Moirang in Bishnupur district on Friday.
A resident of Kumbi Terakha area in the same district, Sundari reportedly began suffering from fever and allergy and breathing difficulty, after which she was treated at health centres at Kumbi and nearby Moirang.
State health authorities are studying if there were lapses in vaccination procedures, sources said, adding that the post-mortem report was awaited.
CM Biren Singh wrote on Facebook, “Heard the grievances of a family of Anganwadi Worker W Sundari of Kumbi Terakha and expressed my deep condolences.” “Assured suitable compensation duly considering post mortem reports and instructed for taking strong action against defaulting officials. Further instructed to issue strong instructions to concerned officials for ensuring strict compliance of Covid-19 vaccination guidelines.”
